Let’s do a quick 101-Regex intro to  explain what they are. <a href="https://blog.bitsrc.io/a-beginners-guide-to-regular-expressions-regex-in-javascript-9c58feb27eb4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Regular expressions</a> are a sequence of characters that have the power of matching character combinations in strings so as to enable text searching/matching. It’s important for you to know that those expressions are a small language of their own which are also part of programming languages like Python and Javascript.
We can say that they’re a way to describe and identify patterns in a data string. Why? Well, in Javascript you’ll realize that regex are search patterns from sequences of characters; meaning they are Javascript objects. 
Let’s check out an example: Regex patterns can be used in search engines and editors where filtering/matching texts is key and must be efficiently done. In this case, Regex with the help of a sequence of characters defines search patterns.

Unlike the known idiom: “No strings attached”, we do know that developers want their strings searched and matched when they need it. Many of them choose Regex for its simplicity. Regular expressions let you perform searching and matching of strings.
If you go with Regex to search your texts, you get true or false if the text is encountered. If matching is what you need, you’ll get an array with the expected text when trying to match it from or to a group of texts.
<h3>2. Can someone please say if it’s right or wrong? Input Validation</h3>
Taking advantage of regular expressions includes input validation. A lot of developers rely on Regex to make sure users can only use numbers and letters on their passwords and that emails contain values, such as: @a-z.com. As you might know, this validation task is key for the developing process and for the proper use of the product you create.

If you decide to create a regular expression in Javascript, you can both do it with Regex Constructor or by what’s known as RegExp Literal which means that you have to use forward slashes to enclose the pattern.
You have to wisely choose the method that better suits your needs. For example, if you want to build a regex dynamically, RegExp Literal shouldn’t be your choice, you should go with the Regular Expression Constructor instead. There might also be cases where you want to create regular expressions dynamically, in which case RegExp Literal won’t work, so you have to use a regular expression constructor.
Note that, regardless of the method you choose, you’ll always get <a href="https://www.programiz.com/javascript/regex" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RegExp</a> objects with the same methods and properties attached. Now let’s discover the two ways you can create a Regex.
<h3>Regular Expression Constructor</h3>
If you choose this way, pay attention to its syntax: new RegExp(pattern[, flags]). Now, to create a regular expression following this path, you should start by calling the RegExp() constructor function. This would be like this:sz

Look at the example. In this case, the string alias matches the RegExp pattern  /^a&#8230;s$/, and the test() method—there are lots of methods you can use with Javascript RegExp—makes it possible to verify that the string matches the pattern.  
Just in case you were wondering about the metacharacters in the example—^ and $—, note that in Javascript RegExp, metacharacters are used to specify regular expressions. 
<h3>Regular Expression Literal</h3>
When looking at the syntax of this way of creating a RegExp, it would be: /pattern/flags. In this case, the regular expression is a pattern enclosed between slashes: cost regularExp = /abc/;. /abc/ is a regular expression.

You should be aware that the information is unencrypted. This means that getting the data you need it’s easier since no decryption is required and the stored data isn’t turned into code or encrypted. But this also means that storing sensitive information isn’t a choice here, since you can’t really control access, and data can be easily obtained by simply getting your phone.
There’s another key you need to learn here: AsyncStorage only accepts and stores strings. Before we get started, keep this in mind. If your data isn’t a string, you’ll need to turn it into a string. In AsyncStorage, key—the name you want to save the data in— and value—the data you store—are strings.
If you need help turning the object you want to save into a string, use JSON.stringify(). If you need to retrieve data from the storage, just use JSON.parse() and turn it back into an object:

AsyncStorage has methods that enable it to work with and interact with the React Native async data storage system. Some methods include setItem(), getItem(), mergeItem(), removeItem(), multiGet(), and clear().
Plus, three main actions empower developers to perform tasks there. These are:

Going back to the methods, let’s explore how to use each one. If you need to save data to the AsyncStorage, you’ll need to use the setItem() method. In this case, the data is assigned to a string, and that string is the key, and the value object is the data you want to save:

The getItem() method lets you retrieve data from AsyncStorage using the key under which it was saved. Following the previous code example, imagine that you wanna get data back using the key “user”:

In the meantime, the mergeItem() method can help when you need to modify or merge a value under a key. Achieving that is just about replacing the value with a new one. In this case, the new one is “Madlein”:

For this one, you’ll need to use the multiGet() method, which can deliver the pieces of data you need from AsyncStorage and return an array of key-value pairs. For instance, if you have user and location data in the storage, the multiGet method can give you both at once:

Now, if the job you need to get done involves storing multiple key-value pairs at once, then you’ll need to use the multiSet method. This will allow you to store your data in arrays. Imagine you need to store data that’s unrelated, something like age and hobbies, you can do that by using:

The Javascript substring() is an inbuilt method in Javascript that returns a part of a given string—a substring—from start to end indexes:
str.substring(startIndex, endIndex)
But what&#8217;s a substring in deep? A substring is a subset from another string. Let&#8217;s explain it with an easy example. Imagine our original string: &#8220;I&#8217;m exploring how to use the Javascript substring() method; it&#8217;s really useful!&#8221;. One substring could be &#8220;I&#8217;m exploring how to use the Javascript substring() method&#8221;, and another substring could be &#8220;the Javascript substring() method is really useful!&#8221;. In some cases, you&#8217;ll need just one string, but sometimes you&#8217;ll need more; that&#8217;s why we use two substrings in our example.
To get the substrings for you, the Javascript substring() method gets one part of the original string and returns it as a new string. In order to complete this task, the Javascript substring() method relies on two parameters:

<li>startIndex: it&#8217;s where the substring should begin, and it&#8217;s about clarifying the first character that must be included in the returned substring.</li>
<li>endIndex: this one is optional, and it&#8217;s the end of the substring. It&#8217;s the opposite of the startIndex. This one specifies the first character that must be excluded from the returned substring.</li>
</ul>
You must keep them in mind when using the Javascript substring() method because, for instance, if you decide to leave the endIndex behind, the substring() will return the substring to the end of the string. Or if any parameter is NaN (not a number), then the substring() will work with them as if it were zero.
Plus, if you make the startIndex the same as the end one, the returned substring will be empty. Another point to pay attention to when working with these indexes is that if any of them is less than zero or bigger than the string length, then the startIndex will become the endIndex and vice versa. And last but not least: if the startIndex is bigger than the end one, then the substring() method will switch the roles so the startIndex will be the endIndex and vice versa.

We&#8217;ve already talked about the parameters. Now how to make the Javascript substring() work? Let&#8217;s see what the substring() syntax looks like first:
string.substring(indexA, indexB)
indexA is the startIndex, and it&#8217;s between zero and one less character than the length of the string—remember the scenarios we discussed before if it&#8217;s greater than the length of the string—. While indexB is the endIndex, between 0 and the length of the string, as we said before, it&#8217;s optional. So the indexing should always start from zero.
The substring() method will give you a new substring based on those indexes or parameters. For example, if you give it this input:

Let&#8217;s start with what unites them: the three of them can help you extract parts of a string and give them back to you in a new string without changing the original string. We&#8217;ve seen that the substring() method does that by working with the starIndex and the endIndex, leaving out the endIndex character and/or going up to the end of the string.
While the substr() method works with the startIndex and Length parameters, returning only the part of the string between the start and the number of characters you specify after the startIndex.
Slice() method is quite close to the substring() one. This is because it returns the part of the selected string between the starIndex and the endIndex. But, for instance, if the first parameter is greater than the second one, slice() doesn&#8217;t perform, while substring(), as we&#8217;ve seen before, will switch the arguments and perform normally.

It&#8217;s proven that, even though false positives and negatives exist, an automated tool can read thousands of lines of code in seconds. That can&#8217;t be compared to doing it manually.



&#8220;It&#8217;s not accurate&#8221;. That&#8217;s another argument. Well, hidden paths in code can&#8217;t be detected only by manual reviews; automated code reviewers can also identify them. 



And no, it&#8217;s not that expensive either. A huge team of professional coders who work as code reviewers is more expensive than an automated tool. Plus, keep in mind that this automated process aims to identify errors that can&#8217;t be, or are hard to, identify manually. Think about the time (and therefore the money) you can save by leaving less room for mistakes in the other stages.

Many automated tools are available, including some with enhanced scanning to reduce false positives and false negatives. We&#8217;ve selected three tools to give you an overview of the offerings. These are <a href="https://linearb.io/blog/automated-code-review/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Linear B,</a> <a href="https://www.codacy.com/product" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Codacy</a>, and <a href="https://codeclimate.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Code Climate</a>.

<li>Linear B shines bright in providing automated metrics about code review time. Plus, it gives you the chance to customize goals to standardize your peer review and make sure the whole team is on the same page. If a high-risk issue arises, it will let you know right away via Slack or Microsoft Teams.</li>



<li>Codacy supports many programming languages and quickly and easily identifies duplicate code. You can also get your push results as comments in your pull requests as soon as they&#8217;re created or as Slack notifications. Its installation and user interface are pretty intuitive, and it offers a 14-day free trial.</li>



<li>On the other hand, Code Climate is mainly focused on aligning initiatives and strategic priorities to accelerate software delivery. One cool example of what this tool does is its maintainability score, which ranges from A to F. It assesses duplication, cyclomatic complexity, cognitive complexity, and structural issues. Every technical debt issue goes through an inspection, and it estimates how much time it&#8217;ll take to resolve the issue. The A to F range accounts for the total remediation time.</li>

This was just a quick overview of what an automated code review can do for you. Make sure you&#8217;re giving code review the place it deserves in your quality assurance strategy, and that you&#8217;re not treating it as just one more stage of the development process.
